No Human Intervention (NHI). This is the frequently proposed, and actually least likely scenario; namely, that some accident like sudden catastrophic decompression killed everyone on board. Perhaps the pilot's last conscious act was to put the plane on autopilot in hope of waking up. He never woke up, and the aircraft flew on an erratic path until it ran out of fuel and fell into the sea.
Least Likely. According to talking heads, this is the least likely scenario because of the apparently willful changes in course we know the aircraft made before totally falling off radars. In Lemma 1 (Accident), the plane most likely would have continued on its path and crashed somewhere over Asia, perhaps as far away as China. This is the least likely path, but must not be ruled out. For example, the sudden sharp swerve due west might have been a last act by the pilot losing consciousness.
